By converting seismograph readings from a magnitude 5.6 earthquake that took place in Oklahoma in 2016 into a musical form, this work highlights the event of that earthquake, the second largest in Oklahoma’s history, and its link to fracking operations. Fracking is the process of injecting liquid at high pressure into subterranean rocks to force open existing fissures and extract oil or gas.
